HAVU win Funspark ULTI 2021 EU Regional Series 1 over Dignitas

The Finnish side displayed strong form and took the title with a flawless run at the $30,000 tournament.

HAVU capped off a confident showing at Funspark ULTI 2021 Europe Regional Series 1 with a 2-0 victory over Dignitas in the grand final. The team led by Olli "⁠sLowi⁠" Pitkänen dropped just one map in the tournament, to ex-Winstrike in the semi-final, and are heading into the Elisa Invitational Spring with strong momentum.

As the highest-ranked team at the event, HAVU lived up to the favorites tag, dealing with Copenhagen Flames and K23 in the groups before going on to the playoffs, where they exacted revenge on ex-Winstrike for a defeat in Snow Sweet Snow 3. Following a thriller against Dauren "⁠AdreN⁠" Kystaubayev's K23 (19-17 Overpass, 19-17 Mirage), the Finns set up a grand final bout against Dignitas.

The Swedish side ended SINNERS' respectable run at the tournament in the semis and hoped to build on recent accomplishments which include qualifying for BLAST Premier Spring Showdown. However, a brilliant Jani "⁠Aerial⁠" Jussila inspired HAVU to a recover from a 2-5 start on Nuke and win their opponents' map pick 16-9. Dust2 featured more one-sided traffic, with in-game leader sLowi topping the board in a 16-10 win.
